Mandate |
Established in 1978 to provide assistance to Spanish and Portuguese immigrant women, the mandate of Working Skills Centre (WSC) was expanded in 1988 to provide settlement and employment services to immigrant women from any source country and then in 2005 to serve unemployed and underemployed individuals, with a focus on empowering immigrant women to achieve self sufficiency. |

Working Skills Centre (WSC) is an innovative, community-based, non-profit, charitable organization that empowers immigrants, primarily women. Our purpose is to prepare our clients to fully participate in Canadian society by providing education, work experience, and settlement services that ultimately lead to employment.

Overview

Working Skills Centre (WSC)
offers employment-related services for immigrants primarily women. Our strong track record working with immigrant
women who are ESL speakers has made us a leading
agency in the field of skills training for this
client group. Thus far we have established an
average success rate of 70% for graduates from
our full-time skills training programs obtaining employment.
WSC provides a holistic program to help immigrants overcome barriers to employment and move towards economic self-sufficiency. WSC offers ongoing settlement services to provide further support to those who are new to Canada. Our programs and services for immigrant women are made possible through the support of our sponsors and partners and revenue from our community-based business services. Through our business services immigrants are able to obtain Canadian work experience.
