Business English

Business English teaches students how to write and edit
business correspondence including common business
idioms, numeracy language and vocabulary to help
them succeed in the workplace. The course also
covers inter-cultural communication in a multi-cultural
workplace, using listening and speaking skills
to be understood and show understanding, and negotiating
in the workplace.

Workplace Communication
|
Professional listening in the workplace;
understanding and applying small talk strategies
to get along in the workplace, high quality of customer service and handling complaints professionally, workplace meetings, agendas, motions, minutes
taking, and appropriate business vocabulary. The
course explores working with managers and co-workers
from different cultures, experiencing yourself in
the workplace and customer service strategies.

Reception
Training

|
During this unique HANDS-ON
training, the student will learn to operate a multiple
line switchboard system and understand the function
of each feature. The student will learn to use appropriate
language to respond to caller inquiries and learn
other office procedure skills such as: photocopying
and faxing documents appropriately, processing staff
mail and ordering of office supplies.

Referrals
to LINC and ELT

|
Working with community partners clients are referred
to Language Instruction for Necomwers (LINC) or
Enhanced Language Training (ELT). These programs
ensure clients have excellent English communication
skills, including reading, writing, speaking, listening
and sector-specific terminology. |
