and Referral Services
700 individuals served annually
• Free employment focused information sessions
are held every week. Clients are given information
on skills training programs and the requirements
to register at appropriate community programs
• Assessment of language and numeracy skills
for training and employability
• Assessment of computer literacy for skills
training and employment opportunities
• Referrals to services that address immediate
client needs such as housing, clothing or violence
response counselling
• Referrals to programs that address skills
gaps, provide job development or move clients towards
their professions and/or careers
• Writing of letters to support client applications
for work permits, subsidized child care, volunteer
work, training or leave from work to participate
in needed programs
• Advocating on behalf of clients to their
Social Services counsellors and/or Labour Market Managers to support participation
in an identified program |

• Employment readiness skills assessments
• Group sessions on resume preparation, cover
letter writing, interview skills and Internet job
search skills
• Workshops on employment standards and employees
rights at work
• Individual assistance with resume and cover
letter writing
• Providing clients support with their employment
applications
• Individual coaching in preparation for job
interviews
• Arranging work experience for clients through
referrals to the practice firm network or negotiating
with other community agencies
• Matching clients in response to offers of
jobs or work experience from private sector companies |
